USBOXLA Western Invitational: Rock Stars recap

TRAC Athletics sent five talented Rock Stars teams to compete at the US Box Lacrosse Association Western Invitational in Arizona (Feb. 4-6, 2022).

The TRAC-based teams returned with five medals from five separate divisions competing against teams from Alberta, Arizona, British Columbia, California, Colorado, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Utah. The event featured nearly 50 teams from the Western United States and Canada. The Rock Stars were the only team invited to attend from outside of the region.

The Western Invitational was the third event the Rock Stars Boys competed at this year, hosting both the In-N-Out Invitational and Border Wars at the Toronto Rock Athletics Centre in 2021. The highly regarded US event was the first for the Rock Stars Girls, who brought both their U15 (Bantam) and U17 (Midget) rosters to Phoenix, Glendale and Peoria. The girls were coached by former National Lacrosse Leagues defenseman, Troy Bonterre, while Colin Doyle, Brandon Miller and Phil Wetherup led the boys’ benches.

The U15 Rock Stars Girls and two U17 Rock Stars Boys teams (06 and 07 squads) captured gold medals, while the U17 Rock Stars Boys took silver, and U17 Rock Stars Girls grabbed bronze.
