2023 Border Wars: Everything you need to know

The third annual Border Wars takes place at the Toronto Rock Athletics Centre in Oakville, Ontario from December 15-17, 2023.

The nearby historic Memorial Arena in Brampton, Ontario will also host games during the tournament’s first two days.

The high-level box lacrosse event is put on in partnership with the Toronto Rock, US Box Lacrosse Association and TRAC Athletics. The tournament will feature Boys U13, U15, U17 and High School Elite divisions, plus for the first time since the event was established, Girls U15, U17 and HSE divisions will also compete in 2023. A total of 84 games will be played over three days.

Whether you’re playing, coaching or cheering from the stands, here’s everything you’ll need to know for the 2023 edition of Border Wars.

Schedule, score and standings

Go to tracathletics.com/2023-border-wars-schedule to see participating teams, schedules and standings. Game results and standings will be updated during the tournament. Follow TRAC Athletics on Instagram @TRACAthletics for updates throughout the weekend. Each division’s schedule page is best viewed on a desktop or laptop.

Tournament rules

Border Wars follows the National Lacrosse League rulebook, with a few modifications. Visit the Border Wars event page at tracathletics.com/events/border-wars for additional details on tournament rules details.

Host arenas

Due to a record-high number of divisions and participating teams, Border Wars will be played at both the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre and Brampton Memorial Arena. For the very few teams that will be required to play at both arenas on the same day, an adequate amount of time for travel between those games is reflected in the tournament schedule.

Dressing room assignments

At the TRAC, dressing room assignments for teams will be posted on the monitors just outside of the doors of both the blue & red pads. At Memorial Arena, dressing room assignments will be posted/communicated.

Rooms should be available 30 minutes prior to game times. Dressing rooms are not a team’s room for the entire tournament, so please bring all your belongings with you, including equipment, after each game. A new room will be assigned before every game.

Trainers for injured players

Staff from the recently opened Toronto Rock Sports Medicine & Wellness Centre will be on site at the TRAC for every game. A trainer will also be on site at Memorial Arena.

If you should sustain an injury during a game, a trainer will be alerted and address the injury on the floor. At the TRAC, trainers will be stationed in the hallway that connects the two pads if you require any further assistance for injuries.

Note: While parents, players and teams are encouraged to take personal photography and video during the event, AI highpods are not allowed in either facility due to liability issues.

While the deadline to book hotels as part of the event has passed, there may still be availability are hotels that had previously reserved space for Border Wars.
