TRAC Athletics Launches Rock Stars Elite Lacrosse Program

In partnership with the National Lacrosse League’s Toronto RockTRAC Athletics is proud to announce the launch of Rock Stars – an elite lacrosse program that will provide players with the best available coaching, training, and competition in the country.

The teams will train, practice, compete, travel, and host both field and box lacrosse events at the biggest lacrosse-specific training facility in Canada, the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, Ontario.

The program will include both boys and girls at the U13, U15, and U17 divisions, as well as an elite development program for U11 players. A single team will be formed at each birth year, with those selected competing in both field and box lacrosse.

“The Rock Stars program will feature the most complete lacrosse players in our region,” said TRAC Athletics Director and Toronto Rock legend, Colin Doyle. “These players will be able to call the TRAC their home and gain all the advantages of training, learning, and, excelling at this phenomenal facility. The Rock Stars will set a pro-level standard for elite travel lacrosse.”

Current Rock players, Challen Rogers and Dan Dawson, have also been heavily involved in the development of the Rock Stars program and will serve as coaches as well.

“I’m extremely excited about what we’ll be able to offer these elite players through the Rock Stars Elite Lacrosse Program,” said Rogers, who alongside Doyle and Dawson, also serves as TRAC Athletics Director. “We’re striving to provide these players with the best of everything. We want their Rock Stars experience to be positive, professional, and as successful as we can possibly provide.”

Dawson, who has medalled with Team Canada in both field and box lacrosse, feels the program will offer players a highly-skilled and unique experience. “The ability to train at this amazing lacrosse-specific facility in Oakville will allow our staff to give players advantages they might not get elsewhere,” said Dawson. “The countless benefits of training at the TRAC will set the Rock Stars apart.”

As part of the training, selected players will be required to compete in the Rock Elite League (REL) in preparation of the various field and box events they will be attending in both Canada and the United States. Next month, TRAC Athletics will announce the first box tournament the program will host this upcoming winter. Players on the Rock Stars will also make up the pool of players in consideration for the Jr. Rock, who compete annually in the Jr. NLL Tournament held at the TRAC since 2013. The Jr. Rock’s eleven gold medals at the tournament are the highest count of any club that has competed at the event.

While scouting has already started through recent REL seasons, players who have not previously competed in the league but are interested in being considered for the Rock Stars Elite Lacrosse Program can still apply. Open registration will be made available next week.

Players selected will be asked to attend an evaluation camp later this summer, which will include both intensive training and competitive gameplay. The evaluation camp will be subject to current COVID-19 restrictions. As always, player safety is a top priority at the TRAC.

The Rock Stars schedule will run during the sport’s traditional offseason from September to March in order to avoid any overlap with a player’s minor lacrosse commitments.

“We are ensuring that parents and players receive tremendous, industry-leading value here,” added Doyle. “While the Rock Stars Elite Lacrosse Program will provide a pro-level experience, we’ve also made sure it’s been affordably priced. The Rock Stars are 100% about the players!”

Registration details, camp dates, times, cost, and other information will be provided next week.
