Bill Greer New Rock Stars Recruiting Director & Academic Advisor

TRAC Athletics has officially added long-time National Lacrosse League player & coach Bill Greer to their industry-leading staff. Greer will serve in a significant new role within the Rock Stars Elite Lacrosse Program as the Rock Stars Recruiting Director & Academic Advisor.

The Rock Stars Elite Lacrosse Program provides players with the best training, competition, coaching, guidance and mentorship while embodying the same core values & principles as the NLL’s Toronto Rock. During the 2022/23 season, a total of eleven boys & girls Rock Stars teams will train & compete in field, box and sixes lacrosse at the world-class Toronto Rock Athletic Centre (TRAC) in Oakville, Ontario. The teams will take part in showcases & tournaments throughout Canada & the United States as well.

A teacher in the Peel District School Board for 16 years, Greer has spent the last four years as a Student Success Teacher at the Clarkson Secondary School in Mississauga, helping students achieve their highest academic potential.

“I couldn’t be more excited for my new role with the Rock Stars & TRAC Athletics,” said Greer, who spent 15 seasons in the NLL, five of which were with the Rock. “Having the ability to combine two of my biggest passions, lacrosse & academics, into one role is an absolute dream scenario for me.

“I am so grateful for the opportunity to support our student athletes and help them better understand the recruiting process and the requirements needed to reach their post-secondary goals.”

Greer has coached several successful seasons with the Burlington Minor Lacrosse Association, won two Minto Cups while coaching the Six Nations Arrows (OJLL), and most recently served as an assistant coach with the NLL’s San Diego Seals. As a player, Greer is a former first round NLL Entry Draft pick of the Columbus Landsharks in 2001 and also won an NLL Cup with the Rochester Knighthawks in 2007.

In addition to his role as the Rock Stars Recruiting Director & Academic Advisor, Greer will also coach the U11 Rock Stars Developmental Program alongside TRAC Athletics Director & current Rock forward Dan Dawson. Plus, Greer will be involved in the upcoming Rock Elite League season and future Toronto Rock Lacrosse Camps.

Within his new Rock Stars role, Greer will work closely with players and their families while he guides them through the collegiate recruiting process, as well supporting their overall academic portfolio to determine a player’s best post-secondary pathway.

“I have seen firsthand how the Rock Stars program has grown over the past two years, with the vision & leadership of helping players improve & gain exposure,” said Greer. “Thanks to (Rock Owner) Jamie Dawick, (Rock Head Coach) Matt Sawyer and (TRAC Athletics Director) Colin Doyle for the opportunity to support their vision and help grow the Rock Stars program. I can’t wait to get started!”

Rock Stars 2022/23 training officially started this past weekend with over 200 players kicking off the program’s highly anticipated second season. In addition to weekly training, players will also compete in the sold-out Rock Elite League and several high-profile field & box lacrosse events during their fall, winter and spring schedules. Teams end their Rock Stars season representing the Jr. Rock at the annual Jr. NLL Tournament.
