2026 Canadian Box Showcase: Everything You Need to Know

The 2026 Canadian Box Showcase is taking place at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre on June 29 & 30. Whether you’re competing, coaching or cheering from the stands, here’s everything you need to know for this year’s highly anticipated fifth edition of the CBS.

DIVISIONS

2027/2028 Grad Year – 2008 (RECLASS), 2009, 2010 Birth Years

2029/2030 Grad Year – 2011, 2012 Birth Years

PLAYER CHECK-INS

Check-ins take place at the front desk immediately upon entering the TRAC. Both the 27/28 and 29/30 divisions check-ins start at 7:15am and will close at 8:00am. Players will receive a CBS pinnie. Do not trade your pinnie with another player. Your pinnie number is how collegiate coaches will ID you during gameplay and skills sessions, and how staff will ID you during the player combine. Please wear black shorts if possible.

COLLEGE COACH CHECK-INS

Coaches can check-in at the TRAC’s front desk or head straight to the building’s Meeting Room A, which is located upstairs towards the west side of the facility (overlooking the outdoor turf). An event package will be waiting for them there, including player lists with pinnie numbers to ID competitors. Click here to see this year’s attending coaches.

PLAYER LISTS

This year’s CBS will feature over 80 of the top players from their grad year hailing from all over the province of Ontario, elsewhere in Canada, and even the United States. Click or tap here to see this year’s player lists. While showcase pinnies will be provided when players check-in, players are asked to wear black shorts to both days of the event.

PLAYER COMBINE

The 2025 CBS Player Combine Presented by the Toronto Rock Sports Medicine & Wellness Centre and VALD Performance will take place on June 29. The 2025 CBS Player Combine will take place inside the TRAC on the red turf side. The combine will feature the following stations:

  • 40-yard sprint
  • Pro-agility test
  • Vertical jump
  • Isometric mid-thigh pull

Toronto Rock Sports Medicine & Wellness Centre staff will be on site and tracking player’s individual results. Results from the combine will be shared with attending college coaches, and will also be emailed to player/parent email address used during registration. Please do not skip your group’s combine time or attend another group’s combine time. Wear your CBS pinnie during the combine, as that is how staff will ID you when you arrive and at each of the four stations. Wear the same running shoes you would typically wear on the TRAC’s indoor turf (no cleats).

GAME LENGTH

All games – Day 1 field lacrosse and Day 2 box lacrosse – will all be four 12-minute quarters and 3-minute breaks between quarters. Running clock unless the score is within two with under two minutes to play in the final quarter for both box and field games.

RULES

Box games will be officiated using National Lacrosse League rules, with the following modifications/reminders:

  • Absolutely no fighting is permitted (box & field); players will be ejected from the game and suspended for the remainder of the event if they engage in what the on-floor official has deemed to be a fight
  • All divisions will use Junior nets (4’x4’6″)
  • Ten seconds to clear half (not eight)
  • Over-and-back rule will be enforced
  • Diving & dunking is permitted
  • No wooden sticks allowed for players or goalies (box & field)
  • Cleats not permitted on indoor turf surface, wear running shoes
  • For all games, if the score is tied after regulation time, a three-player shootout will determine the winner (no ties), plus an additional single round to determine a winner if still tied after three shooters

Field games will be officiated using NCAA rules, with the following modifications/reminders:

  • Teams will have 20 seconds to clear the defensive half
  • Cleats to be worn
  • For all games, if the score is tied after regulation time, a braveheart OT period will determine the winner (2 players, 1 goalie per team), first goal wins

INJURED PLAYERS

If you should sustain an injury during a game, a trainer will be alerted and address the injury on the floor or field. For box, trainers will be stationed in the hallway that connects the two pads if you require any further assistance for injuries. For field, a trainer will always be near the playing field.

PLAYER AWARDS

For both divisions, two Top Player Awards and one Most Outstanding Player Award will be given out at the conclusion of gameplay on Day 2.
